Some 2010 donations to help Haiti can be deducted from your 2009 tax return.
AFP / Getty ImagesAccording to the IRS website, "People and businesses who give to charities providing earthquake relief in Haiti can claim these donations on the tax return they are completing this season, according to the Internal Revenue Service."

If you make a cash donation to a charitable organization that provides earthquake relief in Haiti between January 11, 2010 and March 1, 2010, you can get deduct the donation on your 2009 income tax return.  Payments must be made in cash, which includes contributions made by text message, check, credit card or debit card.
